Traveler III
Hello all. This trip is nothing major, but the views are so spectacular and the area so accessible that I wanted to share.
I did an overnight trip to the top of Windy Knob Loop in Chilliwack, BC. I went solo, which I normally wouldn't do, but the area is actually mostly within cell coverage and if worse came to worst, it's close enough that I could realistically hike back in a few hours. This area is one that I've explored before with a buddy of mine on his UTV, and ever since I got the CR-V, I've been wanting to conquer this trail. With the wife and kids out of town, now was the time.
I set out at about 1600h from home and headed over to the dirt. Much of this track is very narrow, very rutted, and quite overgrown - mostly ATV and UTV's come through, but I did encounter a coupe of Jeepers after setting up camp.

Pinstriping anyone?
I had to conquer an interesting rock step that is probably the biggest obstacle the V has ever overcome. Took two attempts, but not much real drama and she was up and over.
The brown streak was wheel spin from my first attempt. All it took was backing up about a foot and then giving it just a bit more right boot.
The reward was well worth the effort:

Set up camp to sleep in the rig. Used some ghetto dollar store cheese cloths as bug screens:

Remember, if it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid (yes, it worked :P).
My dog is a total coward and hates going in the car. She puked on the way up and was very upset at me. We'll make an adventurer of her yet!

Couple of the nasty ruts on the way up. The camera never does it justice (photo taken on the trip back down as I was too busy driving on the way up).
I tried using the tub from under the table as a wash basin - it works fine, it's rigid enough to serve the purpose, but it was a bit large for me. If I had more dishes to wash and a cleanish stream to use for wash water, it would be great. I think I may look into getting a folding frame to support it at table level:

Used my CR-V table, cooked up a nice dinner and enjoyed the sunset with a cold brew. All in all, an excellent mini-outing. Being so high up with such breathtaking scenery, you feel very remote up there, but you're not actually too far away from civilization, and it doesn't take long at all to get from my front door to the camp spot. I cleaned up a bit of garbage left by others, and I discovered a bunch of blooms of the noxious Giant Hogweed and reported it to BC Lands. I hope they get up there and eradicate it because that stuff is very nasty and there's a lot of ATV/UTV folks that go through the area who could be affected.

Thanks for reading. Hope you all enjoyed the post :)
