Hey guys just curious if their is any maintenance needed for tents? Also is it recommended to spray scotch guard on the outside of tents as a precaution for any type of weather. Thanks

Depends on the kind of that your taking about.

The most important thing is never tear it down wet and then store it. Dry it out when you get home before long term storage or it will mold.

There are treatment products available depending on the tent fabric. But a new tent should not need anything. I've recoated the floor of a backpacking tent after years of use with good results but forget the exact product. Seam sealer can be good insurance agains leaks. Some tents require it when new if not taped. If never had to spray the body of a tent but might eventually on my RTT as that is a poly/cotton blend.

Usually I just set mine up in the backyard without the rain fly on and let it air out. You can sweep out the dirt on the inside with any old broom. It wouldn't hurt to use some kind of waterproofing on any tent.

Cool! And thanks guys for the info and advice, I'll keep all this in consideration. I have a 8-10 person ground tent right now from Coleman that I'll be using for now. Then once I complete my OffRoad trailer im going to be adding a RTT to it. Looking at the Mt Adams that sleeps 4+ from CVT. Here's a pic of the set up that I'm working on.
