Tacoma gen 2 aluminum tray project

I've wanted an aluminum tray, flatbed, whatever you wanna call it, for a long time. I love the functionality, the utilitarian look and the thought of getting rid of that flimsy composite bed. Also, since I'm building a camper trailer too (over in that diy camper section), it'll be nice to simplify everything on the back of the truck, since a lot of it will travel in the camper and there won't be a need for a tent.

I picked up most all of the material on Oct 30 and what follows is where I am, with the previous setup pictured.

Main frame is all welded up. Gonna pull the stock bed this morning and work on mounting. Probably spend some time in fusion 360 laying out the tail light panels.

Rough test fit and stock bed removal today... Starting to add mounting points for things and bracing where mounting points are needed.

Basic frame and mounts completed. Infrastructure for mounted items above and below starts now. Gonna use a pair of hand me down EarthRoamer boxes initially, but a custom built shorty canopy is on the drawing board. Cutting the fenders on the CNC will be up next.
