If anyone may be interested, Skywarn Spotter training classes have started.
Visit your local NWS office webpage for the schedule.
https://www.weather.gov/srh/nwsoffices?site=tae

If you can't find/make a local class there are webinars scheduled as well. Oddly many offices don't post them on their schedules so if you would like to sign up for one of the three webinars or the advanced webinar here you go.

It's a good way to put your ham radio to work doing a public service and having a capable vehicle doesn't hurt either. Some of this could also be good info to know in case you are out in the back country and encounter storms, such as Where is the safest place to go/be in relation to a severe storm with a wall cloud? Is that a tornado or scud or a rain shaft?

Let me know if you have any questions.

I've taken the training before as part of my CERT efforts, but ended up not registering. This is really cool information to have for anyone, especially if you live somewhere with interesting things in the sky to observe.

I also grew up in Norman, OK and did some storm chasing elective stuff during my K-12 schooling so its a fun throwback for me!

Thanks for sharing with the community!
