Hey guys I have a dumb question. What is the purpose of the cables stretched between the front bumper and roof rack? I have seen this in several pics and often wondered what is the purpose.

Good question. Michael made a video about what they are and how to make them a few years ago. Having witnessed first-hand, tree limbs, antennas, etc. banging against the windscreen of my jeep as I head at even a slow pace down the trail, these will be the first mods that I do once I install a roof rack. I know that I can simply attach them to the top of the A pillar but I prefer not to have to drill into the A pillar of my jeep. They kinda look cool too but they do serve a practical purpose.
I remember first seeing limb risers on Camel Trophy rigs and wondered what that was all about, even saw a guy standing on a wing holding on to a riser to keep that side down, like a sailor on a catamaran on a trapeze line. Years later, I found out their true purpose. Don't see many risers on the east coast. I only mount mine when I'm going "in the bush".
