Mods, can you please change the title for me, got hit wth spellcheck. It should say Montero not Monterey.
Hi Everyone,
On my last camping trip out in the Red Rock/Mojave I had to right of my friend's truck. We had a great evening around the campfire and two of my friends decided to go out for a late night drive. The rest of us stayed at the camp. They were gone for about 45 minutes when I decided to hit the sack, my son was already in his bag. As I was zipping up the tent I heard yelling, and saw the light from two flashlights across the canyon. It was my friends, they had hiked over a mile back to camp in the moonless night. An unlit quad came around a blind corner and my friend drove off the road to avoid killing the guy. He only had a dinky led light strapped to his helmet. The video below shows the recovery, there's a little profanity. I have to say, the old Montrero is pretty tough, he ran Last Chance Canyon the next morning. The end of the video shows the aftermath in the morning. We cleaned up as much contaminated dirt as we could.
On a side note, if you ever camp out in the El Paso mountains, don't set your tent up next to one of the many abandoned cabins. We had mice circling the tent all night.
