I've seen some external propane tanks on a few rigs for cooking and water heating.

Was hoping that anyone who has one might share a photo of their set up and what mount / holder they use. Also please provide feedback and insight for those of us thinking on getting one.

Thanks!

I have found these to be great mounts. Not cheap but they work very well. Powertank Propane mounts. They make them for 11lb and 5lb tanks.

Do you mind reposting the link please. It didn’t work for some reason.
If you have an ad blocker on it won't work. Simply search Amazon for

I knew eventually they would make one but 3 years ago I had to modify one to work. It’s been solid and securely mounted to my roof ever since. @Jeepsies you might recall it from mudfest 2018 haha.

AluCab has one as well. Nice piece of kit. Flexible enough for trailer or outboard rig install.

Below is the tank I'm planning on getting once I have the available cash. Once I get it I'll adapt my Superstrut RTT rack system to accommodate securing it to my truck. I have an idea of how to make it happen but need the take to customize it. I'm sure not going to pay $100+ for those propane brackets they sell!

Is there a difference in the quality between the propane tanks that fit the Power Tank mount? I see the bracket fits he 11 lb Worthington propane tank, the 11 lb Flame King propane tank, the 10 lb Manchester propane tank, and the 4.25 lb Worthington propane tank. The Flame King is the cheaper of the large ones.

I took a fire extinguisher bracket and cut it down to hold my 5lb propane cylinder. The bracket is larger than one used for a 10lb CO2 cylinder (shown side-by-side below). The strap's tension is adjustable. Here's a write-up:

I've been very happy with it, and it holds the cylinder very securely.

This is a bigger tank, but this is what I made out of a tank strap from a junk forklift at the scrap yard.
