Hello. I am going to pull the trigger and get a fridge. No more ice chests. I have a JKU and solo travel so I don't worry about space too much. I thought I wanted the VL60 but it may be too big. I want the dual zone fridge and the VL45 only comes in a single zone. I chose from the VL line because it's not plastic and all metal. My concern is being able to open the VL60 while its in the Jeep. The fridge won't live in the Jeep 24/7 and only used for trips so it won't be plugged in 24/7. I have a hardtop on my JKU and planned on putting the 40% seat down and set the fridge on top. Not ready to remove the seat yet. VL60 measurements are 31.2"L, 19.4"W,18.8" tall. Does anyone have this fridge or any other fridge with these measurements in their Jeep so that I can see what it looks like? I looked here but I only see the fridge model in trucks or other SUVs I am also interested in a pic with the lid open to see how much room the lid takes when open on the fridge.. I don't have cardboard to make a box this size handy like someone suggested. Thank you to those who post.

I finally moved it from "frivolous" to "necessary" but I want to make sure I don't get one too big for my JKU.

we have a dometic 65 qt and it is a little taller than a comparable size ice chest, but not by a lot. should be fine. the wife has a jku and although we dont take it on trips, the 65qt dometic would do fine in the back

I don't have a Jeep, but I do have an Iceco VL60 dual. It's a great fridge in all ways, but it's definitely BIG. In addition to the dimensions you mentioned, when it is open it is a full 36" tall. If it's sitting on a folded down seat, you may not have enough vertical height to open it.

I have the Dometic 60. I got a crazy good deal on it on Ebay. It's a good size. I don't think bbn I'd want any smaller. It's big enough for a week trip for me and my wife. But.... I would really like to have a duel zone. Being able to carry some frozen stuff would be great for longer trips. Having ice would be good also, although our regular Dometic does keep ice frozen in an insulated container for a decent amount of time. We like to make cocktails occasionally at camp.
