Overland Trip Jan 5-12 vía Las Vegas

I am planning an overland trip w my son for Jan 5-12, starting out of Las Vegas with a well built rental Taco for all 7 days. Looking for suggested destinations, sights, routes and ideally, company to join us. Looking at Mojave and or Anza Borrego. We are from NC w rock crawling experience n camping experience but first time overlanders. Your help n suggestions are welcome. Thx, Bruce

I think those two will suck up most of 7 days if you want to do them right. 3 days on Mojave Road (there's a ton of things to see just off the route), stay overnight around Victorville or San Bernardino to clean up, then straight on down to Anza for another couple days and maybe a night or two in Joshua Tree on your way back up to LV.
