Oregon to SOCal and back.

Thursday 3/8 I will be headed to down to Malibu CA from Salem OR to do some camping with some friends for the weekend. Starting Monday I have no real agenda other than stopping in San Jose to see a friend on the way home. I don't have to be back in Oregon until 3/18 I was hoping for some suggested camping areas (I just downloaded the iOverlander App) and maybe some cool places to explore while I'm on the road. I'm somewhat wanting to stay towards the coast but not set in stone.
Overland experience: Novice
Vehicle: 17 Silverado 4x4 with 33 AT

I just began planning a (10 day) Seattle > Yosemite.. one thing that I've noticed about Cali, is there's not much opportunity for "dispersed" camping on the coast. I booked a campground spot at Jedediah Redwoods State park which looks cool. We plan on camping there, and then spending the next day exploring all the Redwood Parks while heading south towards the bay.
On the drive home we're taking a more rugged route through Shasta-Trinity to try to get some more time off the pavement. Shasta wilderness will be pretty snowy right now tho
