NW Washington meet & Greet - 04/21/2018

Looked at the member map and realized, there are quite a few people doing the overland stuff nearby where I live. Oak Harbor, Mt. Vernon, Sedro Wolley, Anacortes.. It would be fun for us to meet up and chat a bit. I know there is a lot of local knowledge that I'd like to hear about. Where to camp, what roads are open and when. Also, what people are using for their rigs, what gear works well, what to watch out for. All that stuff.

With this in mind I figured Conway Pub's a local Bar & Grill that allows kiddies and, on good days, has a great steak burger. Lets meet there and say hello to one another. Maybe we could plan something for the future as well.

Looks like I won't be able to make it due to family commitments. I'll keep a look out in case you do this again sometime in the future. I've been to the Conway Pub a few times back when I had my Harley! Good times!

No worries! Even if no one else makes it. Its a good excuse to get out and have one of their burgers.

Oh, and also. The carryall (profile pic) is all over the garage in bits at the moment, so we'll be driving the M37 instead.

Or maybe not.. Took the M37 out today and its having issues. If I can't get it fixed by tomorrow, I guess we'll be in a dark blue 2015 4Runner.

I won't be able to make this one, have to work, but I will try and make the next one for sure. Just signed up so was not able to plan ahead lol....

We came, we saw, we met up! And it was a lot of fun!

The first real hurtle was, how to tell who was here to meet up and who was just one of about 100 locals? We , Julie & I, brought the M37 as a flag to at least let people know we were there. Unfortunately we were a bit late, should have been early, and had to park down the block. Went inside to see what we could see and the place was just packed! Its a Biker bar that includes farmers, fishermen, eliminatory school sports teams.. Eclectic mix, but everyone seems to get along fine.

Sitting inside with the giant crowd was pointless so we moved into the beer garden next to the street. (For once the weather was actually sunny-ish. The first people we met up with were Chris (@C4nN0n45) & Jamie. I guess they had the same idea. After a few minutes @Jason McManus showed up in his bright BRIGHT green jeep. That makes a great flag too!

I thought the burger was top notch. I'm thinking that even with the crowd, they had their A team doing the cooking.

After chatting, having lunch and a few beers, we went out and checked out each other's Rigs. We had fun taking photos and showing off our machines etc. But I'll let Chris & Jason fill you in on those bits.
