Hello all, I have been cruising the forums here lately and enjoying the good conversations I have been seeing! Not new to camping, but definitely new to vehicle camping. We don’t have a setup yet, but I have been eyeballing the Xventure xv-2 , and the turtle backs very closely! Also some other variations.

We currently have a 38’ travel trailer we do not use. and while it’s nice, it’s not my preference for numerous reasons!

Looking forward to gaining some knowledge and more so finding out where the good spots in the Midwest are!

Welcome to OB! I think you’ll find that this community has a ton to offer, no matter what you’re in to. While it’s not the west, the states surrounding Ohio have so much to see and explore. I just got back from an awesome trip to Slade Ky on the DBBB which isn’t far from you at all. There’s also KAT, Mammoth Cave NP, and much more. I’ve only scratched the surface in WV and PA. My recommendation to you would be to hold off on buying too much until you really know what you’re into to avoid buying twice.

oh yeah, definitely not the west! But there are tons of areas within 4-8 hrs of Ohio that I hope to make it to someday! And I totally agree with buying too much swag. I’ve been down that road many times with other hobbies . In regards to a trailer, it will be a necessity as we have 3 kids and 1-3 dogs that will potentially travel. That is the main item I do not want to purchase twice and need to do it right the first time. And man, it’s a chore doing research on those things. Exhausting!
