New to this Overland Bound community and excited to be apart of the excitement. Working today on some trailer items and need some advice.

How to run a trailer 12v battery to the jeep battery/alt.

Looking for some creative ways to hold the RTT cover to the side of the base.

See you all at Overland Expo West and Moab EJS

Do you already have a 7 pin trailer connector on your Jeep? You can run a hot wire through a 7 pin, but it will only charge your battery so much. I’m in the same boat as you right now. You can add a battery to battery charger, like a redarc. B2b chargers are expensive. I found one on amazon for $80, but I don’t know how well it works.

Did your trailer come with a 120v charger, like a Noco Genius? Most of the commercial trailers do. Are you considering solar? The redarc will also work as a solar controller.

Check out Expedition Portal, the 12v power systems forum has a ton of answers from some really smart people.

I installed an Anderson plug next to my trailer plug in the rear of the Jeep, ran two wires from my battery up front in the jeep to the plug, I have a 27series Optima battery in the Morris Mule trailer mounted over the axle and I installed a Toad Charger on the inside of the trailer wall with wiring to the hitch area, and added the other end of the Anderson plug. I just plug the the trailer to the Jeep while I'm on the road. My alternator charges the battery in the trailer via the Toad Charger- the Toad charger maintains the trailer battery and will not drain the Jeep battery. This is the type of system used in the RV world to maintain a battery in the vehicle being towed.

Looking for some creative ways to hold the RTT cover to the side of the base.
Once our RTT is deployed, we can slide the cover out of its "channel" and stow it inside the trailer.

Our cover (for the Yakima Skyrise) also has loops/fobs that allow for roll up storage of the RTT cover as well.
