Hi all, I have done camping for a long time and just finally got my dream vehicle and am looking to build it up. I got it used and it already had 37 in. tires and micky Thompson all terrain tires.

I am going to be getting the Genesis duel battery setup for it as I am going to get a fridge pretty quick out of the gate. I love camp cooking and am tired of getting ice...

That being said, I have never modified a vehicle to this extent and would like a little guidance and suggestions. The biggest thing I am stumper about right now is what to do with the bed of the truck.

. I am torn between a Rack setup w/ a bed cover to protect everything under the bed level or a camper shell. I like the RSI Smart cap but its often on hold and pricey (as most things are)

I would like to build a drawer on slides in the bed and make one of them a camp kitchen but am not sure I should do that before I have a cover on the bed to protect it from the elements.

I would really appreciate anyone's input or suggestions for this.

Congrats on your dream rig, a Gladiator (especially on 37"s) is extremely capable and probably one of the very best platforms for an Overland build. As to your question about rack and bed cover vs. a cap, really only you can answer that. I do like the idea of one or the other, to protect your gear from dust and the elements as well as keep it secure(ish) from theft. I like the idea of a hard tonneau cover with a drawer system (including "kitchen" as you described) and some clean/dry storage underneath it, then a rack that sits high enough to have your spare and other bulky things on top of the tonneau but under the rack. RTT and such can go on the rack. Then again, my buddy has a cap on his Gladiator with the Decked drawer system and absolutely loves it, and it works very well for him:
