Hello,

Have a question about mounting gas/recovery tracks to leer camper shell window frame. Does anyone have an idea or suggestion on how to accomplish this task. The photos aren’t my vehicle but is what I’m trying to accomplish.

Appreciate the help?

That aluminum for those windows is not extremely strong, might work for recovery boards but fuel and water are pretty heavy, around 8lbs per gallon for water.

What he said.

That extruded aluminum is going to deform rapidly, if not immediately with the weight and motion. I would find another way

Third!
Judging by the difficulty I have removing my removable rear window glass (actually the front of the Leer camper shell), I would say no. Just the flex of the shell sometimes slightly deforms the window frame making it hard to remove even when the locks are undone. So that Toyota's layout looks great in pictures but so does Boba Fett's armor. Try sitting at a dinner table like that day in and day out

You will want to make a brace on the inside to limit flex and give the bolts a good anchor.

Here is a sketch of what you'd need to do on the inside 16074385017282883823293902949645.jpg

Uh, do you have a roof rack on this thing? BoostPowered's idea is good, but that isnt really mounting to the window frame itself. Clearly it puts the equipment right where you want it, but you could follow his template at any location on the shell. Agreed, that includes right where you want it.

To me, that violates the KISS mantra. Thats a lot of work when you can just throw it in the back or lay it on the roof rack. Granted, that's all just one man's opinion.

Let us know how it comes out. If it's easier than I think, I may do the same, even if on the INSIDE, to keep the outside snag-free.
