The Midland MXT115 only comes with a cigarette adapter, is it possible to snip the cigarette lighter adapter and run the wiring directly to the Jeep battery? Has anyone done that, is there any issues other than remembering to turn off the radio that I should be aware of?

If I posted this in the wrong forum, I apologize.

Thank you

Yes, you can power it directly off the battery but you will want to add some in-line fuses. Also, be aware that if you bypass the switching system of your vehicle, the radio could possibly drain your battery completely if it is accidentally left on.

There are a ton of great tutorial videos about wiring radios. My suggestion is to watch as many of those as it takes until you are comfortable with the install.

In addition to making sure the power wire is fused at the battery, make sure that if you have to add an extension to the cord, that the wire gauge is still appropriate for the amps and the wire length.

Running to the battery is preferable than the cigarette lighter any way. You reduce the chance of electrical noise introduced into the radio since you Have separate lines not bundled with everything else. The battery else acts as a giant filter capacitor to further help.
