I need to get out so I’m heading to the Mendo NF this weekend. Want to leave after work Friday and come home Sunday. No set destination. Might head up M3 and hit some of the sites I’ve been to before or ?? I was just up there the other day for a day trip with some OB folks. Trail was perfect, a few frozen puddles, nothing challenging, bit of snow in patches above 5000 ft. This is open to anyone and I’ll be cross posting on the Northern California Land Rover club’s forum but this is open to anyone who wants to come.

Not that often. Have led a few trips through the lower portion. Enter at Upper Lake and exit by Willows. The route is about 4 hours total off road w some good spots to camp along the way.

Wish I could join but had to do a tow from Russian River to San Mateo today. Not sure what's up with my yj but seems to overheat after a couple hundred miles.

That sucks. Been there done that got the shirt. My rig is an old Land Rover Defender 110, had to upgrade my AAA membership for the long tows. I’m taking my wife’s DD (LR4) on this one. Hopefully next time!!

Tooled around up there over the holiday. Took the M10 to Letts lake and dropped a pole for a while. Wanted to take the M5 back over Goat Mt. and into Bartlett Springs, but there was a road closed sign at Letts Lake going that route. It was getting dark and didn't want to chance it, so we headed out thru Stonyford and back up east of Indian Valley Res.
I haven't been very far up the M3, but would like to take it sometime up to the FH7 and into Plaskett Meadows, maybe Anthony Peak.

Went up Walker Ridge road to try and drop a pole at the dam side of Indian Valley Res. and ran into this,

Not sure why BLM decided to close the area, so a bit bummed, we went around to the north end of the Res. and fished for a bit knowing we weren't going to catch anything. Along the way on the east ridge, we stopped for lunch. The air was very clear and was able to see Mt. Lassen, and Mt. Shasta in the distance. Thought that was cool. Took Bartlett Springs Rd. home.

What route are you taking? Curious about the area, but not sure I would be able to go with you.

Wish I could have joined, but didn't finish the suspension until today. What about next weekend?
