They usually open it in mid-April. There was a lot of snow up there this year, though. Last year, in June, I had to go through an 80 yard section of three foot snow getting to Bear Trap Basin from Cabbage Patch, and we hardly got any snow last year. I wouldn't try before June and even then I'd have another rig and recovery gear. A lot of Sierra trails don't open until at least late June. There are a few left open year-round. Rubicon and Bald Mountain are two that come toind.

Will he lucky if Corral Hollow is passable by July. The snow is very deep and continuing to accumulate. Just for an idea how much snow is up there, this picture was a few weeks ago at the Bear Valley Village. The snow is on flat ground, so that's over 12 feet deep.

Good luck getting back there. It's still snowing up there, not sure if Spicer road is even open yet.

On Monday (4/10), they started working on plowing Hwy. 4, here is a photo of those efforts.

That's insane, if it's closed at least I'll get an idea how much snow is there so I can plan my trip accordingly.

Thanks for the info and pics, still can't get over how much snow there is up there.
