Traveler III
I'm hoping to head down to Carrizo Plain during late winter/early spring and was hoping to explore some of the dirt roads and trails in Los Padres as well. I understand that a number of trails/roads have been closed in the last 10 years for a variety of reasons, really inhibiting the ability to create longer routes on dirt. Here's what I'm thinking of exploring, but was hoping to see if anyone with local knowledge had some additional recommendation of trails and/or POIs to check out:
- Sierra Madre Road from hwy 166 heading east as far as I can go, then back down Bates Canyon Road
- Camino Cielo West
- Figueroa Mountain Area (Catway Jeep Trail + Zaca Rd)
- Colson Canyon to La Brea Rd (until the gate)
Any other trails worth exploring in the area?
