Is there a way to link my Google maps saves to the app?

I don't know about a direct link, but you can add locations to the map in the app privately. That way only you can see your special locations etc. and it will keep them saved for you. One thing the app can do is the reverse, you can click a point in the app and send the navigation directions to Google Maps.

you would need to convert to GPX then download.
