Fellow WJ owners, I am working on building a tool kit. Not a new concept, but I am trying to take a little bit different approach. I want to focus on what is actually needed for essential field repairs. So here is the two-fold question, what have you had to repair in the field and what tools were required?
My goal is to get specific tool recommendations.
Here is an example for alternator replacement:
Tools & supplies needed:
- battery terminal wrench.
- 13mm & 15mm sockets.
- 3/8" ratchet with 2 or 3" extension.
- 3/8" torque wrench (optional).
- Vice grips or pliers.
- Small wire brush.
- Penetrating oil (Seafoam Deep Creep).
- Anti-seize for bolts (Optional).
Edit: Since there are two engines and multiple 4WD systems available, it would be helpful to know which one your repairs were done on.
