Hello All,
I am not entirely new to overlanding. However, it has been a while. I had Jeep CJ7 from the late '80s till the early '90s and used to head out pretty regularly. It has been a long time since I have owned an off road worthy vehicle - I am currently driving around in a Ford Fusion Energi - the poster child for efficient but boring. I stopped prioritizing vehicles I loved to drive in favor of efficiently getting me from A - B and also got me into the commuter lane! Now I want something I love to drive and nothing put a smile on my face faster than that old CJ 7. Sometime last year, I got those first whispers about a new Ford Bronco and pretty much bought a first class ticket on the hype train.
The more I have been thinking about things, the more I have come to conclude that it might just make more sense to get my hands on some other 4x4 that won't have me buying into an expensive and un-proven platform. Maybe something used that is sub $20k that I can build on over time.
I am not really rock crawler type. I am all for taking on tough trails to get to cool stuff, but not interested in a slow crawl for its own sake.
I have also re-discovered my photography habit and I am looking forward to getting out there and taking shots of some of lifes more amazing views.
Looking forward to learning from and having adventures with other folks who are also drawn to the fun.
Cheers,
Robert
