Honoring our veterans near and far

I think it would be great if there's an identification bar for our veterans and active duty military. I've seen many who have served and are currently serving around the globe. Including other countries. Some OB swag that had that identification would be outstanding also. Thank you. U.S.Navy veteran.

I loved being in the military.

I think the military prepared me for what I would face later in life. It gave me the ability to keep going when I hurt or don't feel good. It also taught me respect for others. I thank every vet I see.

I am the coordinator for the Central Coast California chapter of Heroes On the Water. We take veterans on guided kayak fishing trips completely free of charge. I welcome any veterans to check out our Facebook page to join us on our next adventure. We typically fish in the ocean for rockfish, halibut, etc... but also try to have a couple events in the local lakes too. We are based in the San Luis Obispo county area and fish a lot out of Avila beach and just held the last event of our season in Santa Barbara harbor last weekend. Our events allow each veteran to bring a guest and will work to adapt to any disabilities if possible or recommend a particular trip to specific needs. Our guides are experts on fishing the local waters and we love getting the vets out there to take a break from life and to relax and enjoy nature with us. We will start our next season in March of next year and will be fundraising and working on getting ready for new events until then.

Thanks, Spread the word! There are HOW chapters all over with very dedicated volunteers. I love having the problem of trying to find extra yaks because we have too many sign up. They did enough for us by signing their name on the dotted line, I feel like the least we can do is take them out for a day off from life and go fishing.

I served over 23 years in the Royal Navy. I did 9 tours to the middle East amongst many other trips away. I've been very lucky to have seen some awesome places. I have also seen some pretty rough sights too. In our Armed Forces, ALL personnel are volunteers. It was the best decision of my life to join up.

Currently 15 years and going strong USN. It's always awesome to have people come together, especially when others have different stories or walks of life, but served side by side and different times. I like how people can have similar interests and later find out they served as well. I also know how much more humbling it is to have served and blessed to embrace the freedoms of sacrifice and never forget.
