I need some assistance from this fine band of mechanically inclined individuals.

Here is the situation. I just received a set of 7” LED HI/LOW Headlights for my 2010 Jeep JKU, but when I installed them, they are not functioning.

A little background. In late 2016 my wiring harness was completely chewed through by some sort of rodent, forcing me to do some extensive re-wiring. At the time I decided to migrate from the standard H13 socket to an H4 socket and install nicer LED lights. Due to issues with the CAN bus causing flickering, the new wiring harness included a capacitor and resister. Here is the drawing of the wiring:

Everything was worked fine for 2 years until one of the LED headlights failed. In an attempt to get myself up and running as soon as possible, I threw in a set of halogen bulbs and KC reflectors. Unfortunately, the light pattern was way to inferior to the LED, so I ordered another set of LED headlights.

Last night I uninstalled the halogen assemblies and installed the LED ones… and the lights did not work. To trouble shoot the problem, I removed one of the LED lights and put back in the halogens, which worked.

My first thought was that there was an issue with the H4 connection on the LED lights, as I have heard of that happening. To rule that out, I connected each of the lights (individually) to a 12v power supply, testing each combination of prongs to ensure that my findings were correct. Both lights worked.

So now I am at a loss for why the LED lights don’t work, but the Halogen and the previous set of LED lights do work. Any ideas?

Welp, I should have known that the answer is to just ask my wife. She looked at it and said "Why is the black on the wrong side in the harness that was provided?"

And there was the answer. The headlights are wired with the neutral on the wrong side.

Glad you got it figured out! In the future, especially after changing wiring or electrical components, make sure to check your fuses before you start disassembling to troubleshoot. More often than not, that's the issue. Hopefully, you don't run into any more issues.

I would usually check fuses, but the fact that the halogen bulbs were functional indicated that there was power to the socket.

I hear ya, I just did a wiring job for LEDs and found that to be my issue. Glad you're up and running.
