Handicap accessibility

My wife is losing here ability use stairs which leads to the challenge of excessing the truck camper (4 steps). I'm looking for ideas of some sort of lift I could mount or bring along that breaks down and packs well.

Also contemplating building one using a truck camper lift much like the Burr Handi-lift yet lighter and possibly manual (hand or drill run).

Those that have please let me know what you've done.

RJ, I would be leary of using a general purpose lift for accessibility for a person. These types of lifts are typically not designed with any type of safety interlock that would prevent a sudden drop if any part of the lifting mechanism fails, also they would be subject to requiring level solid ground etc for stability. You want something that will allow a safe solid transition from the lift to the camper. I have seen a chair lift that attaches to the side of the camper similar to the Handi lift and fold away when not in use to allow full access to the steps for those that do not need assistance. something like this: RV Lift | Handicap Chair Lifts | Mobility Lift Systems
