I found out about an online adventuring ham radio club that fits in nicely with overlanding. They are j to doing SOTA, POTA, LHOTA, IOH, as well as DXepeditions. For those of you that don’t know any armature radio acronym that ends in OTA means On The Air. So SOTA is Summits On The Air, POTA is Parks On The Air, LHOTA is Lighthouse On The Air, and IOH is Islands On The Air. April 9-12 WE4DX will be activating as many parks on the South Carolina Beach as they can. They will be trying to not only activate close to 30 POTA Parks, but they are going for a foul swoop on making 1000 contacts in 3 days (a world record btw for POTA).
For more information about WE4DX check out Ham Radio Adventures
And Ham Radio 2.0 on YouTube did a gear interview with them last night talking about the goals of the club.

I agree! POTA, along with the other OTA, do go well together with overlanding. I know in the future my rig will have some HF abilities.
