So, I was going to reply to a member and thought, I should just put my own thread...

**Disclaimer, I'm not an expert**

The idea was, I have GZ 3000 Lithium Wifi, and I usually put it in an old Hardigg box... It was nice, held all my cables and lights, but it's pretty big.. like unweildy big...

So I thought, wonder if i can slim it down, and make it easier to roll into the house for power outages, it be smaller than it is, and have weatherproof fittings on the outside if the case for things like a DC Fridge, and usb and all that...

This seemed to fit my dimensions, but its going to be tight, and when its rolling around the GZ will be on its side... So I picked at the foam... cut a bit... (ugh i hate foam) and got to this:

Which this is where I am at currently with this project... (Sides are plucked out for the ventilation on either side, or I could put cables in, but it's certainly not going to fit all I used to carry with it.

Some notes and findings:

- This is a tight fit, I had to shave down the foam in the bottom of the case, and a bit on the lid...
- I'm not sure this is going to be deep enough to accomodate plugging in anything while closed, leaving me with the following options:
  1. Flip the unit around so the lid acts sort of like a "porch" to better protect it while open? (This would mean it would be upsidown though
  2. Wait till my warranty is void and open the sucker up and add my own ports.
- The built in extending handle to cart this around is flimsy compare to the weight of this, and I felt better tipping the box to get it started for rolling, rather than see if the fulcrum of that extending handle would reach a snapping point. It's not bad when you are get going, just the initial tipping.
- I like the auto pressure valve, on my hardigg cases, everytime I went to the mountains the case would be sucked in a vacuum, when I got home, expanded like a ballon...I could be reversed on that, I'm enjoying a scotch or two while writing this... you had to use the manual pressure equalization, so that may be easier =)

Future Plans:

Not sure if I'm going to get a bigger box? put it all back in the hardigg? Modify that?
I was about to pull the trigger on these:

And not so sure, now, I could just rig it up so I had a through port (Top one) and make my own custom pigtails for 8mm (Solar Panels) and ARB Cig for a fridge... Maybe if my warranty is up, wire up some new ports on the side of the GZ so I dont have to worry about crushing cables when I close it up... hrm, wonder if I can find lowprofile right angle cables for cig, and 8mm...

In anycase, time to go get another glass of scotch and ponder things for a few days... weeks knowing me...

Welp, I found this, trying see if there are alternates, this wired to the regulated GZ cable then to the ARB plug should be okay for the fridge (I hope). Now to see if there are right angle 8mm jacks or usb plugs.
