This is a rechargeable lantern with a lithium battery. I charged it when 1st new last summer and have used it on several trips. It still has a full charge. On low you can get up to 500 hours of run time. Puts out 210 lumens. Charges by USB cable, attached. (can be charged from a solar panel, too) Also, you can use the Lighthouse to recharge your cell phone or camera.
You have two lighting modes, 180 degrees or 360 degrees. Each setting allows you to dim even further. I've usually set it on 180 and about half output, which is plenty to illuminate your campsite. There is a larger version that puts out 400 lumens and costs $70. The Lighthouse Mini is on sale at Goal Zero right now for $39.95.
The Mini weighs in at 8oz. and is 3 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches tall. Between the Mini and my Tikka headlamp, my lighting needs are covered. I give it 5 stars.
