Last year we picked up a fridge finally and the wife loves it on trips and random adventures. But being in the back of an F-250 she is tired of climbing into the back every time she wants something. So it was time to make a slide. And for some silly reason I decided to make it out of as much random stuff I had laying around as possible.

I had one of these sitting around from random work project that I had left over. Turns out it's rated for 350 lbs. Figured it might be a little tall but I'd try it.

I removed the upper cage and sides just leaving the slides, base, and bottom basket part.

A little longer slides would be nicer. But we'll try it out this summer. It also has a gas support strut so it holds it shut and helps close it as well.

I drilled some holes in the base and added riv-nuts to hold plywood to mount the fridge to.

Then I cut the base out of the pallet the fridge arrived on. And spray painted it with whatever we had sitting around. And added some brackets I found at the hardware store. So I have something to strap the fridge to.

I put some big stainess riv-nuts in the bed floor. And bolted it down with a little anticize on the bolts.

And now with the fridge on it and strapped down.

Wife is much happier and the kids like it too. I'll probably end up taking it apart and making one that sits lower for easier access but for $40 it was a fun project to try.
