As a long-time member and UX designer, I’m passionate about our community but concerned about the recent shift requiring the Overland Bound One app for Rally Points and other features. Based on user feedback and my own experience, I’d like to share constructive suggestions to enhance the app’s usability and align it with the community’s needs.
Key UX Issues

Key UX Issues
- Navigation Challenges: The app’s interface feels cluttered, making it hard to find features like Rally Points quickly. Users report confusion due to unintuitive menus and iconography.
- Performance Concerns: Frequent crashes, slow load times, and occasional data loss (e.g., disappearing Rally Points) disrupt the experience, especially during critical tasks.
- Forced App Adoption: Requiring app use over the website limits user choice, which conflicts with UX principles of flexibility and accessibility.
- Restore Website Access: Allow Rally Points and core features on the website to give users options, respecting diverse preferences and device access.
- Streamline Navigation: Simplify the app’s layout with clear menus, consistent icons, and a user-tested flow to make features intuitive.
- Boost Performance: Address crashes, server delays, and GPS lag through optimization and rigorous testing, ensuring reliability for overlanders in the field.
- Engage the Community: Conduct usability testing with members to gather detailed feedback and prioritize updates that reflect real user needs.
