Resolved "Forbidden" or Cant Post

There are security measures in place in these forums that disallow certain actions on the server. From time to time, someone will run into one of these issues and get a fairly harsh, "Forbidden" error, "You don't have permission". What triggers this error can sometimes seem rather arbitrary. If you run into this error. Post it here with exactly what you did to get the error and we will look into it.

Hey Michael...somewhat related, I get the "Forbidden" error after I post a pic in a thread. And some of my existing pics now just say where the pic should be. When I right click and try to "view image", I get the following "Forbidden" error.

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /forums/proxy.php on this server.

This seemed to have started around when the forums got reshuffled. Were permissions not moved with their respective forum?

I tried to create a new post, got the "Forbidden" message. I worked with Michael for a couple days with no real luck.
I was able to make the post using a simpler message but I tried several times to copy-and-paste the original message in, but with no luck.

Finally, I put it in line by line, found out which line it wouldn't take, then word by word to find out which word it didn't like.

Turns out, out of all the text I was trying to put in, it didn't like the word "c-a-s-i-n-o"! (without the dashes - turns out this post doesn't like that word either!).

I replaced that word with *gambling establishment* and it worked fine.

Note to self: stay away from *those*!

I'm going to check the words in the "profanity" filter and see if that one is included. That would be weird. Even so, we should get a more intelligent error if you triggered a forbidden word.

I think I am on to this guys. It is a security feature of the new servers and hosting provider. Ill update soon. Note - anyone can try to post with the word "Cas-i_no" and you will get an error. Good detective work @fj80toyman !

OK, Casino is fixed. Thanks @fj80toyman for the trouble-shooting. I am going to have to address these issues one at a time due to site security. If you have a posting error, let me know what it is and I'll consider fixing it depending on the risk it may represent to the forums. Thank you!

@Laughing Otter are you linking to images or can you think of any other thing in the post that might get flagged by the server? Casino was flagged for Dan, and I'm working on an issue where @Trixter404 s images are not loading because they have "?1" appended to the end of them. I think it is triggering a security flag. Any ideas or details?
