Hey all -
Anyone have an offroad version with upswing galley door? How do you like it?
Also have a batwing awning? Does it work out with the upswing?
Anyone know the overall dimensions of the 5x9 offroad?
Is there anything you added or didn't add that you wish you had?

Thanks
Mike

I have an EOR with the side swing, and spare tire swing mount. We got the 23Zero 270 awning, which is great....I'd love the AluCab but $$$. I know those were not what you asked, but there are not a ton of up swing door's I've seen. Max fan is a must, get a good battery system planned out...if you can swing it go for a lithium (Black Friday deals from Battleborn) I did not opt for solar built in, but will likely add it later. Love having a dometic fridge...another black friday purchase 8 months before build happened.

Not a Hiker owner but I think they are the best buy out there.

On uplift kitchen doors, I love them because stop for lunch, it starts to rain, who cares. Awnings take time and space to set up. The batwings are all outrageously expensive.

Uplift vs swing. The uplift is completely out of the way. You need to walk around a swing door plus wind will slam a swing door shut, not so much with a liftgate.

Do you happen to have a hitch mount bike rack on the trailer as well? Curious about the weight of that in regards to handling on the hwy. We ordered the Nomadic awning with ours since it can be opened without using poles, we'll see how it works out. Already have a 40qt 12v cooler but thinking about trading it in and getting two dometic fridge drawers to mount in the back. Whatever I have it'll def be powered by solar and a lithium battery. In my homemade expedition trailer I have a 100ah AGM battery and 2 x 100 watt solar panels and it's not enough to keep the fridge going, especially if there's not enough sun. I'm thinking 200ah lithium will be plenty to get me through a weekend but need to do the math.

So I have a Denver build, and occasionally there are some minor variations so be sure to ask your builder. The rear hitch mount was standard on the EOR. They said maybe 200# weight, enough for two bikes, maybe more but I'd be wary of the leverage a long rack and bounce would give.

The alucab was the premier awning when I was looking at options, but I'm not familiar with the nomadic. The alucab also does not require poles and staking, but they are built into the arms I believe. The 23 Zero is pretty nice, but it does require poles.

I ran my dometic 50l, along with the max fan at 30% at night, and maybe a little led lighting. As a test, ran till the battery was dead (ok with LiPO4 I understand) and got 4 days out of it. Fridge was at 36 and ambient temps in the 70-80s. 200ah should be good for an extended weekend of heavy use. I may put a DcDc converter in later, so the battery will charge en route to or from sites. The Redarc brand also acts as a solar controller, which will be likely an option for me later (fold out or briefcase ).
