It got to that time of the year again where I look through the vacation days that I still have left available and thing what I can do with them. I must have been working pretty diligently because the total came up to 5!

As a back story, about this time last year I moved out to Portland, OR from Orlando to do software development for future Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, this becomes important in a minute, and immediately after arriving I decided I needed to get away from my Daytona/Sebring prepped cars and get something more offroady and on brand.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I realized. I haven't had much sand between my toes this year. Combine that with a truck that could drive me somewhere and I just traced a line South until I hit Baja.

So there it is, the idea has been set and the office vacation time has been booked. From just over a year ago I've started taking my truck out to more and more places getting some confidence in what it is capable of. I don't have an elaborate drawer system or a roof top tent, hell the truck itself only cost me about $7,000 when I purchased it. I'm hoping that through the process of filling this out I can encourage some more people to take the leap and jump out to do the same.

LETS GO

This is where is starts.

Friday November 4th I start driving down to San Diego to visit a friend.

Now I know from personal experience earlier this year (driving back from CES in Las Vegas to Portland, OR) that driving over 12 hrs on West Coast highways are a bad idea and can lead to fatigue and crashed Rovers.

This means no big push south on a single day. So first item of request is for a good place to stop and explore around Scramento on November the 4th and the morning of the 5th.
