After a long week of school play, track , baseball practice and Boy Scouts, decided to take the family for a quick day trip up La Plata Canyon between Durango and Cortez, CO. We were in the wife's un-modified Jeep Patriot so we didn't go all the way up to the top of Cumberland Mountain, but we did make it up to Basin Creek Waterfall.
First stop was at a small waterfall on Bedrock Creek.
We then continued up for about another mile to Basin Creek Waterfall.
The road wasn't all that difficult, but I was rather impressed with how the Patriot handled it. All in all, it was good to get out and spend some time with the family in the great outdoors.
