Hey from the Rocky Mountains! Been off-roading for thirty years too many jeeps to count, but focus has been on traditional 4x4 off-road day trips. This season, focusing on converting aspects of current build to overlanding (camping on steroids). Found this forum with the intention of learning from others.

Stay safe and wheels down!

Many others like my self are in the same situation. I owned Jeeps since I was 14 and built many. Most were Willys flat fenders and CJ5’s. Wheeled the Cascades of Washington. Now in my mid 50s I like a calmer way of life and more long distance exploration. You will find a lot of people in the overlanding community have never experienced the off-road jeeping world. The trail fix, recovery, seat pucker factor, patch your crap together to make it out by midnight and go to work by 5am experiences. So I have had to learn to be patient because many jump in with both feet and a credit card. Good luck on your adventures.

Thanks for the warm welcome. @Mountaintrails71 - that's exactly where I am. Late 50's, have done a lot of hard-core off-roading, done all the "deadliest trails" in Colorado and my wife is tired of being a rider and wants to get out more for views and adventure, but not have to endure the 7,8,9 and 10 rated technical trails. I have a well equipped jeep JKU now and am looking to turn it into a long-haul camping rig and start out crawl (no pun intended), walk, run towards some longer term overland treks and Colorado is definitely the place to test out new setups. Will mix credit card with DIY. 8-)

Looking forward to learning!
