I was recently given my dads old truck and I'm in the process of turning it into my family adventure truck. I've spent the past few months catching up on maintenance and starting some modifications.

A coworker recently turned me onto over landing. I look forward to learning from everyone here.

I'm heading out with him tomorrow to uwharrie in NC to learn what my vehicle is capable of before I start planning adventures with the family.

Hey Wilkes704, enjoy Uwharrie. Don't get deterred if it throws some stuff at you your rig can't handle. Overlanding and crawling are two different things. Looking forward to hearing how things go.

Welcome to the crew wilkes704 . How was uwharrie ? I have yet to there. You can pm me or give the details here. I'm really interested in going. I'm not so sure about what the trails are like there. I'm new to off roading too I'm in Kannapolis.

Uwharrie was awesome! I would definitely recommend going out there. There were mostly hills and a few rocky areas where we went. We just did the easy trail and a few intermediate ones. The guy I went with was really familiar with the trails so he knew which ones that I probably wouldn't have too many issues with since my truck is only rwd.

I was hoping to head either back out there this coming weekend or head out to Wilson creek which is another favorite area of nc

Keep me posted. Once my kids are out of school in the spring I'm going to load them into the truck and head for the hills.

I'm usually out there fly fishing and back packing. This past year, back surgery has caused me to try and figure out something else which lead me to overlanding when a coworker mentioned it. With my girlfriend and her young daughter, it might be an easier introduction with adventuring outside. This spring I'm planning on taking the 4 year old on her first camping trip. She always wants to go hiking me with me. I want to try the easy trail out at the brown mountain beach ohv trail, but I'll definitely want to go out with someone who has been there before, especially since I'm still acquiring recovery gear.
