I'm going this weekend to Ouray or area near there to do some camping and trails. Looking for a base camp that could fit about 10 rigs. Some of us do ground tent, RTT and small offroad trailers. Not looking for a RV/ campground site. We like primitive camp sites away as possible from main roads.
Any recommendations will be appreciated.

There is a good bit of space around the Ironton area and the adjacent trail head for Corkscrew Gulch.

The areas big enough and flat enough will be pretty close to the highway and will probably have some RVs as well.

We had a cow moose and her calf visit us a couple times there recently.

There's also a nice campsite part way up Corkscrew that might fit 10 if you don't mind getting a little cozy. We had 5 there on another occasion with a good bit of room to spare.
