20170603_130717.jpg I took the boys out for a weekend out to Cedar Grove. Nice weather, lots of mosquitos! What was the one thing we forgot....yep, insect repellent. Luckily, they still had a blast. The Kings River was rocking, water falls were amazing. I haven't seen flows like this in a long time.20170603_095227.jpg 20170603_092439.jpg 20170603_100932.jpg 20170603_110446.jpg 20170603_120010.jpg 20170603_200947.jpg

Do you by chance know the altitude? I am considering a trip next weekend more or less in that area but have read a lot of closures. Is there good forest roads for exploring in that area? - Thanks!

Cedar Grove drops down to about 3000-4000ft. We had planned to hit Buck Rock Fire lookout, but Big Meadow was still closed. The picture below was the closest we got to the lookout (you may need to zoom in on the top of the rock). I asked the Rangers, they thought it may open around June 7. There are a few trails, I wanted to hit, but didn't have time. There are some trails around Buck Rock, Hume Lake area.20170603_083841.jpg

Love Kings Canyon! We are heading over there in three weeks, can't wait! How busy/full were the campsites?

I'm sure it's in full swing now. They open the sites once a campground is full. I was nervous when the middle campground was packed. Luckily, they must've just opened up Sheep Creek. Let us know how it goes.

Looks like an awesome trip. Those boys won't forget the times out and about. Very nice.

They still won't let me live down the part that I forgot the mosquito spray. Luckily, I'm being bugged on when our next trip is.
