So about two years ago I was fortunate enough to meet the guys at Boss StrongBox. Boss StrongBox is Southern California based company in Ranch Santa Margarita. The owners of the company Mike and his sons Ryan & Jeff are just super nice guys. While talking to them Ryan told me they were going to be producing an Overland Drawer system. After a couple of months I was able to get one of their drawer systems and I must say that I absolutely love it.
This drawer system is a lockable, partitioned single drawer system that is made of 16 gauge steel and weighs approximately 115 pounds. The systems dimensions are approximately 40"W x 39"D x 12"H. The drawer is attached to the box with heavy duty (300lb) sliders and has a three point locking system. The top of the box is covered with a black carpet, which is removable for cleaning. On either side of the box there are removable wings that extend the usable top surface almost the complete width of the 4Runner. There are D-ring style tie downs on all four corner of the box, so you can secure it to the floorboard of your vehicle.
the two sides of the drawer are separated by a steel partition that is removable if you so choose. Each side of the drawer has ample room for what ever you choose to put into it. In the below picture you can see that on the right side of the drawer we have all of our kitchen / camping implements. On the left side I carry all of my tools and some of my recovery gear.
The flat top service area is large and has four removable D-ring style tie down points that are functional. It has a lot of usable area on the top surface. As you can see I have my ARB 63 quart fridge attached on the right side, a 10lb Power Tank & shotgun mount on the left, with plenty of room for my dry goods and spice boxes in the middle area. Also there is smaller storage area underneath the side wings for smaller items.
I have been running this draw system for about 1.5 years and it has been used in approximately 10 different states and on both easier and harder trails. I can say that this system is an awesome addition to anyones 4Runner. It is durable, functional, fairly light in comparison to some of the other systems out there and comes innate a reasonable price point ($995.00). It also outstanding customer service. So if you are looking for a great drawer system look no further.
