Off-Road Ranger I
Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I posted so I figured I would begin again by telling what has happened to me over the last few months.
At the end of November 2020, I made the super difficult decision to trade in my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac (my baby for the past 2 years) and purchased a 2010 Silverado 1500 which would fit my needs a little more. I still miss the Sport Trac a lot but I got to planning out my upgrades immediately and started looking at lifts, tires, and bed racks. now for the setback part, 12 days after I bought it, a girl backed into the side of my truck in the high-school parking lot and totaled it :(
I was devastated. For awhile insurance was going to repair it until they found structural damage to the cab and totaled it, which began my hunt for the next truck. I was able to find an amazing, low mileage, 2004 Silverado 1500 with the Z71 package and started upgrades on it. In the end, it all worked out, just not in the way I had originally intended. I still haven't gone camping with the new truck but I have been offroading numerous times in the Colorado snow and I can't wait to take it camping. I am planning on running the Rimrocker this summer after the snow clears and spending a few days in Moab enjoying the trails with the truck.
So, what has been a big Overlanding setback for you that ended up being good in the long run? I'd love to hear about your Overlanding setbacks and how you were able to recover!
