I have been looking to add a couple of Amber strobing chase lights. If anyone can point to a good quality set of strobes without breaking the bank that’d be great. I have an ‘04 4RNR. Thanks.

Depends on what you consider breaking the bank... strobes can run between $35 and a few hundred... quality is likewise subjective... personally I have plans on non strobing LED "fog lights" mounted to the cargo rack when I get it. I have found a number ranging from under $40 on amazon to around $225 for a pair of baja designs S1 with wide driving lenses. Amazon and CarID also have a number of options in strobe lights. I am not so keen on them personally. I much prefer solid lights to strobes EXCEPT as a strobe beacon when parked on the side of the road for ham radio or similar. I will not recommend them til I have had a chance to test them, but I have read good reviews on Nilight for low budget LED lighting. I plan on testing them out after I get a couple other parts for the Tacoma. Armor comes before lighting :)

Are you looking for a set of dust lights, or markers for a desert race vehicle? Size limitations? Output pattern and lumens? Wanna be seen by the guy behind you on the trail, or want to be seen from orbit (or a half mile to a mile away). Worried about light pattern, or just want light behind you?

A few years back I knew a guy who modified the wiring of a tailgate light bar to output to both amber turn signals at the flip of a switch to use as a dust light... I doubt it would of worked for pony express, but it worked for dusty dirt roads here in Tennessee, and still worked as a brake light.

I’ve got amber strobes, front and rear. They are a public safety supplier among others. I have a mount on order from ProClip USA to put the controller on.

This is the controller I’ll use.

Feniex makes some good stuff, have had them on several emergency rigs in the past, just installed one of their rear chase bars they sell via KC Lites. have it rigged up with tail/brake/turn, white back up and yellow chase lights that are either constant or strobe. works great on the trail, but brake and tail lights too bright for highway use at night. being digital no way to dim it that I can find, so have master switch to turn it off

I can highly recommend Abrams (Abrams MFG) lights. They make really bright strobes and various sizes/colors and have very nice features like built in strobe with tons of configurable effects. Sync wires so all the lights sync patterns and even a stop wire so they can go solid when braking or for my setup I have different buttons to turn on solid vs strobe. I'm using a bunch of Flex 6 LED Grille Light Head - Amber.
