Good day, all! Getting new tires tomorrow and after much deliberation, decided to keep to stock size on my Jeep WK. I deemed it excessive to make the needed changes to my Jeep to squeeze in larger tires given that I don’t do any rock crawling or anything like that and it’s my daily driver and will be on cement/blacktop 95% of the time.
So, something I was thinking about was those times when airing down might be beneficial to smooth ride on washboard roads or heavy gravel or what have you or the 0.1% of the time I drive over some rocky areas that cut across forest roads.
With a tire size of 245-65 17, there isn’t a huge amount of sidewall there to be able to air down much. Question is, with this size, how much could I air down if at all? I don’t think my footprint would get appreciably larger. Oh, and stock rims so no bead locks.
Secondary question, is airing down something for only “larger” tires?
Thanks everyone!
