I'm curious if anyone has found any entertaining reads for adventure travel. Perhaps the one that really got me thinking about overland travel was Alexa: The Life and Death of and Austin 7 Ruby. Basically, a guy buys an old Austin 7 and sets out to drive from the UK to South Africa. Why? For a girl, of course.
There is also a great collection of articles by Peter Egan called Leanings, which is more about motorcycle touring, but has some camping and searching for lost byways - if you define adventure as "what happens after something goes wrong" then I think this one qualifies.
What should I add to my winter reading list?
