EU Mid Europe Test drive around Uden with a visit to airbase Volkel

I need to make a route around Uden. With a visit to the airforce base at Volkel.
Claus and I did most of that tour already, but I did find new tracks and so I like to make it better.
Plan is, starting with a visit to the airforce base and the museum of it there.
Then doing the tour. We will go a bit of criss cross and turnarounds, but it should be fun.
Anyone interested for the 26th of february. And if the restaurants are open again a visit to one of my favcourite restaurants in the evening? Ma

I have at this moment 7 rigs, two OB members and 5 Jeeps from Germany.
So I guess this is a bit full now.

Some impressions from the pre-test-drive, hehe

At the end of a part of the Defensiekanaal. (defense canal) a line of defens in the east of the Netherlands. Was a battlefield in 1939 between Germany and the Netherlands

The remains of an old "farmhouse" hangar. This is at aribase Volkel.
The track who we are following is one that will lead us along these kind of memories about an era that we all hope never will return.
Even if we were devided by ideologie at that time, still men and women fought bravely on both sides.
So we are driving down the historical path and will find beauty, sadness, happiness and fun along the way.

We had great time and maybe it was a bit like, the eye of the storm. Like just between Covid and now the trouble in the east.
But we could visit aribase Volkel and that was a blast.

The day started with a long but nescesary check in at the gate. Lining up and identifying yourself.
Then we went to the Traditiekamer Typhoon (airbasemuseum)
We learned about the origin of hte base and more.


of course there was a need for all to get in the cockpits that were showed.


I do show you the ladies, as we guys arent that photo genic.


And here you can see the differences between above the F-16 falcon and below the F104 Starfighter

After the visit there we had the oppurtunity of making pictures at the historical airplanes just after the gate


I think everybody made the best picture of the rig and plane themselves, like I did.




Then it was time to head out and have a good time driving around the airbase and find sime nice historical places.
These pictures will come in time as I had to drive shotgun.

And after that we had a great BBQ in the woods.




It was a great time today and it was very much needed to be out again. Even as it was just for one day.
