I feel like I’m picking brains here. Have a slight dilemma and unsure the best route to take.

Because my configuration it will be a bit difficult to mount the Awning. I initially purchased Yakima rails to mount my J hooks for my kayaks. And I was able to get a yak and my RTT up top. However, the awning is different.

I can take off my Yakima rack and alter the direction of the RTT rails and fix RTT back to factory rack. Then mount the awning to the RTT rails or drill holes in my Yakima rack. Issue with that, Yakima rack is arrow. I imagine there is always a hiccup. Anyone ever run across this or have advice?

I have an Xterra. I will look to see if I have a pic with the tent off but I just took some with it on. Hope it shows my dilemma.

I am guessing you spell check changed aero to arrow...

And looking at your cross bars they are more aerodynamic... I have some I made out of a Bi-plane wing spar and they are the same shape. No problem. I would just drill the Yak rails and use nylock lock nuts and some heavy washers. I would consider adding another crossbar in the middle and moving your rear bar as far back as you can or at least move the cross bars as far as you can from each other..

Thank you so much. It looks similar to what I have. And the “aero” shape doesn’t alter the brackets by tilting them? Yeah, autocorrect gets me on everything. Especially on my cell. I say ducking a lot!

Not really just center your bolts on the highest point if you look at your RTT it is only sitting on a small section of the crossbar too. My 270 ended up being to low and it interfered with my rear hatch so now I have short pieces of super strut between the crossbar and the brackets.

Definitely noted. I think with the Yakima on top of my factory rack the height should be enough to clear my trunk when open. I’ll test it before mounting to be sure. I did read some had issues with their trunk hitting the awning and would like to avoid that from the get go! You have helped tremendously. Thank you so much!!
