Enthusiast III
First, I don't own it. It was a surprise rental upgrade. Second, this is just my observations of driving it 2100+ miles on a vacation to the TN mountains near Knoxville.
Pros:
* My wife kind of liked it, mainly as she knew we were going on mountain roads and that made her more comfortable on windy, twisty roads.
* Surprised with the gas mileage. 22-24 overall. Expected 16-18 but the 4 cylinder did well.
* Not sure about this feature as I didn't use it but "trail turn assist" basically is a rear locker engagement. In theory its a pro!
* I felt like the cabin was roomy and I had no issue finding every switch and could see all gauges.
* Definitely liked the large info screen. It was the first time I used OnX on carplay and it worked well and was easy to see! I like my iPad much better.
* The power point in the rear worked perfectly for the ICECO fridge
* Info system: It was easy to manage and we switched back and forth between phones very easily.
* Field of view of the front corners was good and there is a good size blind spot out back. But the mirrors and side alerts mitigated that so....
Cons:
* Seat support is awful for long drives. Lumbar only in drivers seat so my wife hated me after 4 hours. It seemed that the front part of the seat pan was too low and that left my legs hanging and put strain on my back. The wifey confirmed when she drove it. It made the long trip painful.
* Steering was very tight and if you are prone to oversteer then you could be in trouble at highway speeds. High center of gravity didn't help. It didn't bother me but it did bother my wife.
* Seat support, oh yeah I already said that....
* In cabin noise. The bronco had the removable hard plastic top and the wind noise was very loud. Con for us but understandable being that it is a removable topper. I am hard of hearing and I could not make out what my wife was saying most of the time. No serious....I am hard of hearing and it was not selective hearing!!
* Transmission was annoying. 10 speed tranny had a hard time downshifting when strain was added. It lagged behind the engine as you could hear it struggling to shift. Imagine going thru mtn roads. Up, down, up, down....It bogged down and you had to get into the gas to make it down shift. Thankfully it had a thumb selector on the shifter and I was able to manually downshift so I didn't have to change pedal position. I dropped it down to manual mode more often than not and the 4 cyl didn't struggle as much.
Would I buy it? Not sure, maybe? Overall, I liked the styling yet it was difficult changing from a full size F350 mentality to a smaller rig. I would definitely be looking into upgraded seats. I think the v6 would have been better and 2.8l diesel would be best!
For those that have this vehicle, no offense intended, its just my observation. Good with the bad they say!
