Hello - I need to replace my front left/right axel. The boot is missing from one and the other is in disrepair.

Can someone recommend a quality axel? Everything is stock at the moment and I don't plan on making many big upgrades. I'll be overlanding with some 4x4 in Baja and I'm not sure where to begin. O'Reilly has them for about $80 each.

Thank you!

Don't purchase a rebuilt/reman axle shaft. At work we use NAPA, I show them for $85 my cost(I have an account), list for $155, limited life time warranty. But "NEW" after market, compare warranties. I don't deal with O'Rielly's, bad history. Hope this helps, Ron

I'll see what I can find nationally including your area. I would look for a locally established US company. Unfortunately most NAPA parts won't be US made, but for a Toyota it could be OEM. Ron

@ohiowrangler I'm buying 2 new OE spec from Napa tomorrow. $80 each. Going to do the work myself and save $500. This will be my first big car repair but youtube has been very helpful! Probably will replace the brakes while I'm at it.

Be sure to torque the axle nut to spec, this will keep you from trashing your wheel bearing. The rest is pretty straight forward. Torque the lug nuts also, wheels falling off is a bad thing. Good luck, Ron

I have replaced many on my 2006 4Runner due to the angle of my cv before I took some of the lift off. I've bought 2 from autozone and they carry a life time warranty on them and work just fine. The weak point is the boot as you can see...

I just uploaded a profile photo of my axel shaft. Just replaced the front right and working on the front left. Found that both calipers had seized pistons so replaced them too. Still have a few hours of work to do.
