Enthusiast III
Forgot to post these last week. Just prior to the re-gearing and new wheels, I finally got around to installing my onboard water tank (actually, I've been waiting 4 weeks for delivery of the custom fabricated tank). Now, we're good to go with 8 gallons of fresh water onboard, mounted low to the frame, and hooked to the pump I installed several weeks ago. Liking this much better than jerry cans or water bricks (although I'm keeping those and will bring them on longer runs to replenish the tank).

Fabricated some aluminum hoops straps to mount it to the floor pan and shelf assembly. Ultimatelty didn't use these upper fittings.

Sized it to fit behind the rear seat, just in front of my storage cabinet.

All plumbed into the pump and the vent hose. Revised upper fittings.

Ran the vent up 8" above the top of the tank and along the underside of my shelf. The vent fitting is a sharp 90 and the hose is 12" long, so I'm reasonably sure sloshing won't be an issue. It's a Land Rover, so getting wet on the inside would be nothing new. Extended the fill tube to utiliize more of the tank's capacity (I was going to place the fill inlet on top, but felt that would make getting dirt , etc in the tank far too easy) and installed a quick connect. Got the rocker switch installed as well. Still not totally in love with the spigot, but it hasn't proven to be in the way of anything and I can always change it or its location later.
