10,000 OB Members Approaching?

I keep noticing that the "latest member to join forums" number has been consistently in the 9000s for the past few days, and that OB membership seems to be growing exponentially. I'm #8207 and I joined on September 19th, so that is some SERIOUS growth. I think it's only a matter of days before #10000 is here!

I wonder who it will be? Will they drive a Toyota? Or a *gasp* Land Rover? Will they be new to overlanding or a seasoned vet with knowledge to share? What country will they be from? Will they even post here at all?

Does everyone get a free puppy?

The growth has been massive over the last 12 months, I got #2505 when I joined mid november 2016.

I'm hoping that an announcement of some sort will be made when the 10,000th member is assigned his/her badge. We've nearly doubled in 6 months, and t's a huge milestone.

That's what happens when you run a great community of like minded people, and the people spread the word. This is awesome. I know I really enjoy it here. Lately I haven't had as much time to hang out here, but I am hoping to get more time shortly. Thanks for creating this awesome place @Michael and @Corrie .

So total badge-holding members is 6076 (2012 + 4064)? I assume the 3928 is a subset of 4064.

Correct. That is the total number of badge-holding members that have registered on the forum, have entered their badge number, and have had their account upgraded to show the Member banner. There could be hundreds more badge-holding members who have not done this, and of course, there are thousands of badge-holding members who are not on the forum at all, instead, following on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube.

I remember feeling like quite the newb when I got my #2292.... lol...

Just adding a thing or two here, and first of all - the growth is because of the community. You guys continue to welcome newcomers and remain enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and information. It is awesome. You guys are awesome.

Adding some detail to stats, I just signed certificate number 9964, which is pretty awesome:



...and we have emblem number 10,000 in hand since we had to test the number of digits.

Not all OLB members ever register on the forums since we reach a broad array of personal preferences. Some follow us on youtube only, facebook, etc. We'll roll through member 10,000, most likely with a simple IG feature, and those paying attention will notice. It is a major milestone. We'll go on to 10,001, and on, continuing to grow this awesome world-wide family.

It's been amazing, and most of the reason Corrie and I seem distant at times is because we are working hard doing what the community deserves. Making better tools, improving the site, and out there creating and discovering new ways to provide value to the community. We'll keep being awesome together, exploring, and discovering new things as a family.
