So happy snow camping season is here where the people are mostly gone the campfires are big and the bugs are back in hell where they belong

Grown tired of the Tupperware container cooking set up, so hoping this will organize things a bit better need to get some different hinges and some handles. Not bad for a couple hours in the garage.
Not sure how long it will last but seems to be keeping the second battery topped off , even runs my lazy man camp coffee . Got out to do some camping and exploring in central Oregon this weekend , felt nice to be out of the house .
If it wasn’t for the cost I would do portals in a heartbeat, set all my suspension back to stock hight so cvs and steering are flat slap some 37s on and not have to regear with the benefit of putting less strain on everything…. It’s just that what do they cost 15-20k ?
Whenever the parts finish showing up I’ll have a busy afternoon, arb diff cover , remote res coilovers , bumpstops , hub assemblies and cvs . A little freshen up for the truck
Buddy upgraded his cooler and sold me his old arb for a steal , little cutting here , drill a couple holes there , slap a deep cycle battery in and call it good enough
Before you buy a ton of gear just remember people climb mountains and hike 1000s of miles with everything they need stuffed in a backpack. You don’t need much to get out .
Oh if you’re gonna be heading off-road the first real upgrades should be skid plates , sliders and a winch . A rock or big stick in the oil pan , trans pan or radiator can really ruin a day
Definitely just get out and use it first before planning any mods . Everybody has a different idea of what “off-road” is so everyone is going to need to modify a little differently if at all to get the places they want to go . A good set of tires , some recovery gear and some basic tools will...
Oofff I’m behind on this thing
Built a rack out of some old pallet racking and some fence boards , cut up my trailer hitch flipped it over and made a new bumper (was constantly dragging the hitch on the ground )
Taken a few trips here and there found the most amazing camp site on Vancouver...
What kind of terrain do you drive ?
what’s your on/off-road ratio ?
do you encounter snow ?
are you towing much ?
if your just hitting a gravel road from time to time and putting on a ton of street miles your gonna need a different tire than if your hitting hard trails every weekend
Run the same tire in a 315 7516 I mainly chose them because they were the skinniest 35 I can find, but I gotta say I loved the almost no rolling resistance of the tire even stepping up to a 35 in my rig, I only lost one MPG and I find myself having to use my brakes more because when I let off...
Bigger question , what’s your budget, what’s your timeframe , what’s your mechanical ability ?
usually with engine swaps you figure out how much it’s gonna cost and how long you think it will take then you double the money and triple the time .
